This exciting hiking challenge brings together a vibrant community of adventurers who are seeking to push their limits and conquer their own 'Everest'.
Hike up, walk down, rest if required and repeat! Each summit is one step closer to this huge achievement. No climbing experience required. This challenge can be entered as an individual, a team of 4 or the APEX Pro.
Completing 9.2 ascents of the beautiful Helvellyn mountain will take you to the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest, passing Ben Nevis, Mount Fuji and K2 along the way.

Our young founder, Alex Staniforth, knows first-hand the power of resilience and the therapeutic benefits of the great outdoors. He has twice attempted to climb Everest, enduring avalanches and earthquakes, and now uses his experiences to inspire others to overcome their own ‘Everest’ in life – which can often be much closer to home.
Alex is leading the way with the greatest fundraising challenge our mental health charity has undertaken - at a time when the need for support could not be greater. Project 500 is our mission to raise £500,000 in 2025. The year Alex reaches 30 - & signifying the urgent need for mental wellbeing help, with suicide the greatest killer of under 35s in the UK today.
We all know someone facing mental health struggles. Ourselves. friends, family or colleagues.
Mental health issues affect 1 in 4 people in the UK, & suicide is the greatest killer of people aged 35 and below; yet many lack access to the necessary support. By taking on the APEX Everest challenge, you are helping to:
- Fund free spaces on our mental wellbeing walks - providing professional counselling & coaching in the outdoors without the pressure of 'face to face'.
- Help Mind Over Mountains change lives, supporting people aged 18+ who are facing mental health challenges.
- Support our charity to help reduce mental ill health and suicide statistics in the UK.
