1 in 6 people report experiencing a
common mental health problem (like anxiety & depression) in any given week.
The Association of Mental Health Providers suggests that over 8 million people (1 in 8 of our population) are supported by mental health charities.
Mind Over Mountains is an ambitious & innovative mental health charity that helps people to thrive through therapeutic outdoor experiences. We support people to restore & sustain their mental health through a highly integrated practice that brings together walking in nature, mindfulness, & professional coaching & counselling.
We are looking for up to 3 Trustees to join our Board. The charity is looking for candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds, with skills & abilities to complement those of existing Trustees. We wish to appoint Trustees who can contribute to the Board & support our CEO delivering our ambitious 3-year strategy looking forward to a future of continuing growth, change, ambition, & development.
All Trustees should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Strong empathy & enthusiasm for Mind Over Mountains & a commitment to its vision and values, including as a more diverse & inclusive organisation.
- The ability to bring new networks of engagement to the charity to expand its profile locally & nationally.
- A good understanding of the principles of corporate governance.
- Integrity, relevant experience, & the ability to contribute effectively as a Board member.
We are also looking for people with the following specific skills and expertise:
- Financial with understanding of charity accounting.
- Mental health practitioner.
- Safeguarding knowledge & expertise.
- Charity management/governance at a senior level.
Our current Board has a good gender & age balance. We wish to increase our diversity & therefore particularly welcome applications of people from ethnic minority backgrounds. The Mind Over Mountains Board recognises that valuable perspectives may be present in different combinations of roles & experiences.
The Trustees role is unremunerated but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
