Zoe Tehrani

Zoe Tehrani

Author & Hiking Advocate

Zoe started hiking in 2016 as a way to help with depression. Living in London and working as a physiotherapist, she spent her weekends getting a train out of London for day hikes in the surrounding countryside and experienced first hand the power of nature and the outdoors on improving mental health.

With her job as a physiotherapist she has relocated to both South Devon, Yorkshire, and the Peak District to spend time hiking along the south west coast path, Peaks, Yorkshire Dales and moors.

Now back in London she continues to get out for solo day trip hikes in her spare time, leads group walks as a qualified Lowland Leader, and is now in training to be a Hill and Moorland leader.

In 2019 Zoe built a website (she walks in england) and started writing walking guides, in response to getting asked about how she knew where to go, how to do it, and in particular, how it was possible from London without a car, with the aim to make hiking more accessible for beginners. She has since gone on to write a walking guide book on walks you can do from London using public transport.

Zoe speaks openly about how much hiking and nature has helped in her own mental health journey and aims to show others the benefits of hiking and how easy it is to get out there, especially if you live in a big city without a car or don’t have anyone to go with. Making the outdoors accessible to as many people as possible.
