Matthew Bennett-Tomlin

Volunteer Manager

I am currently a Deputy Head & Designated Safeguarding Lead, bringing over a decade of experience leading safeguarding, sport & education provision in schools. I have also previously served as both a Governor & a Trustee with safeguarding oversight, alongside roles such as Head of Outdoor Education & Forest School Leader.
I am a massive advocate for the great outdoors & firmly believe that walking & being outside are brilliant vehicles for creating wellbeing opportunities for all. After recently adopting children, I have also developed a further specialism in Trauma-Informed approaches, to better support the mental health & development of people of all ages. My ethos & professional journey align with my role as Volunteer Manager, where my focus is to help build & nurture a strong volunteer community, ensuring all of our volunteers are supported, developed & integrated into MOM's mission. I am deeply passionate about our core aim of delivering outdoor therapeutic experiences, combining walking in nature, mindfulness & professional coaching and counselling.
Volunteering, being active & also outdoors has always been central to everything I have done, I have previously volunteered as a welfare officer at sports club, volunteer crew with RNLI & volunteer search technician with Mountain Rescue. When I am not working or volunteering, I love to stay active through walking, climbing, kayaking & surfing. You will often find me exploring the various national parks across Britain or walking my dogs & / or children! I am incredibly excited to bring my skills & experiences, as well as my love for nature together to support our amazing volunteers so they can thrive.
