Lise Wortley
Ambassador for women outdoors
Lise is an adventurer, historian and founder of the Women With Altitude project, where she retraces the journeys of history’s greatest female explorers - using only the clothing and equipment they had at the time. From the Himalayas to the Scottish Highlands, she’s walked in the footsteps of forgotten women, bringing their stories back to life and raising awareness of the challenges they overcame.
In 2024, Lise took on her biggest personal challenge yet - appearing on Channel 4’s survival series Alone, where she tested her resilience by living solo in the Canadian wilderness with just a backpack of supplies. The experience pushed her to the edge, both physically and mentally, but also brought home the profound power of nature to heal, ground, and reconnect.
Lise speaks openly about her own mental health journey, including struggles with anxiety, and how time in nature has been essential in helping her find peace, strength and perspective. She’s passionate about breaking down barriers to the outdoors, especially for women, and creating space for more honest conversations around mental wellbeing.
She’s proud to support Mind Over Mountains in their mission to provide time and space for people to heal through nature, movement and connection.
