Alice Young
Presenter and Journalist she/her
Alice is an award-winning journalist and radio presenter, waking people up with the news in the morning on Heart Breakfast. She is passionate about the power of movement for mental and physical wellbeing and loves spending time in the mountains – whether skiing in the French Alps or hiking up trails to find an incredible view.
Growing up in the countryside Alice spent much of her childhood in the Shropshire Hills, and then the Yorkshire Dales while studying at Leeds University. Now living in London, she loves to look for moments of peace and nature across the city – in London’s parks and along the river.
Alice has long championed the impact of sport and the outdoors and through her own experience has learned the transformative impact of being in the mountains. She is proud to support Mind Over Mountains in the mission to bring that message to more people.
Alice tells us, "I have always believed in the power of movement to have a transformative impact on wellbeing. Exercise, especially in the mountains, has always been a way to reset and reconnect – it’s where I find clarity and calm. For me, there is nothing quite like the peace and quiet you find on a ski lift, or the sense of achievement reaching the top of a mountain after a difficult climb.
Mind Over Mountains brings together everything which helps me feel grounded: movement, time in nature, and a supportive space to have an open conversation around mental health. I am proud to support the charity’s mission to bring that to more people."
