Alex Staniforth
Co-founder & Trustee
Alex is a record-breaking adventurer, speaker, ICF-trained coach and published author from Cheshire. As a teenager he survived the two biggest disasters in Mount Everest history including the Nepal earthquake of 2015.However, his biggest challenges have been much closer to home: dealing with depression, eating disorders, epilepsy, stammering and bullying since childhood. Spending time outdoors and coaching has been a major tool for Alex to manage his own mental health struggles since being a teenager. This inspired him to help others access these same benefits through Mind Over Mountains, which he fondly calls our 'Natural Health Service'.
Through his adventures and challenges, Alex has raised over £150,000 for charity, and in 2025 he ran and cycled all 446 mountains in England & Wales in a record time of 45 days. He regularly speaks in businesses around the world about mental well-being and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in 2025 for his contribution to young people's mental health services.
